Hi everyone went to my gynecology appointment yesterday ( should have been last month but was cancelled as i had asked for a lady consultant ) she has decided i need a Laparoscopy and a Hysteroscopy plus DC to see what is going on in there, i have to go next Tuesday to have another neck x ray because i will be put to sleep during the op , i explained that last year when i had my knee replaced i had to stay awake and have a Spinal block as the Anaesthetist told me i have a small hole in my neck and if i was put to sleep i could be left paralyzed if my neck was put in the wrong position ! ( THIS IS WHY I WENT ON SLEEPING TABLETS AS I COULD NOT SLEEP WITH FEAR , LOL ) the consultant told me i will have to be put to sleep with this op but they will use a mask on my face so i dont have to have the tube right down my throat and take extra care with my neck , as you can imagine the anxiety has come back already , but i have to have it done as i am fainting each month with horrendous pain and as my mum said i could have this for another 15 years so i have to see what the problem is! .

Lovely Sophie

What a horrid position to be in. No wonder you are scared BUT the medics are obviously going to keep a very close eye on you, so I am positive all will be well.

My daughter had a laparoscopy when she was having huge problems conceiving and was fine afterwards- a bit sore for a few days, but nothing she couldn't cope with.

It will be good for you to know exactly what is causing all these problems and then you can get some treatment.

I'm really sorry but I've managed to loose your e-mail address - can you let me have again, please, at jeanmboyd@yahoo.co.uk?

Much love
Jeanxxxxx

Hello Blue Star
aww glad youve been seen,
can understand fear but it is so good youve expressed that to gynae at least they can now adhere to protecting your neck which is good to know for your peace of mind.
Ive had the hysteoscophy done as lone procedure was fine.
be good to get it done see what going on so you can move forward and be given help you need sorry to see your in such pain, fainting not good.
take care
thinking of you.

Wow Sophie - I can imagine why you are scared. Anesthatists always check for neck problems in RA poeple so I am sure they will take extra, extra care in your case. What do they mean by 'a hole'.

Thanks Jean , Mel and Julie ,
Julie the anaesthetist said when the Ra has been in a flare it expands and swells and then when the inflammation go's down it has left a small hole in between my bones in the neck , think i explained it right Confused ,
Jean thanks for letting me know your daughter has had this laparoscopy and it was nothing too scary , its just i dont like hospitals and especially operations Sad ,
Mel thanks for reassuring me about the hysteroscopy too.

Hi Sophie

I understand where you are coming from on this but as Julie says the anaesthetists will take extra care to ensure that your neck doesn't suffer any damage. I have had several ops and they really do make sure that all eventualities are covered. They will check your neck position regularly before they put you under to ensure that it is supported to best effect. And again in recovery they will thoroughly check that all is okay.

I have had a couple of laparoscopies (for sub fertility) and it really is quite a routine procedure. It's quick and only a small incision is made; mine only required a couple of stitches, might even be less now as it was a while ago. As Jean says there is some soreness for a few days, more tenderness than anything, and it does pass quickly. I've also had D&C 's and that's nothing much either. You will be done and dusted in no time. Certainly worth the inconvenience to get to the bottom of the problems. You must be in an awful amount of pain to be fainting each month. Have they given you any idea what the problem might be? Hope you get a diagnosis soon and suitable treatment to follow. Take care Sophie,

Lyn x

Gosh, Sophie, I am not in the least surprised you are feeling so anxious! You poor love. BUT I guess it must be done to find out what it is and to have a clear dx, you will feel so much more settled once you know.

I am praying for you and always here if you would like to chat; littlepetal@gmail.com

I think you are incredibly courageous especially as you cope with all this alone.

Much love,
Amanda

Thanks Lyn , Amanda and Doreen ,
They dont really know what it is Lyn , i was wondering could it be endometriosis but wont know for sure until they have a look , i have spent a lot of money going Private to a bowel specialist and having a c t scan done and a gynecologist but only a small cyst showed up in my left ovary which was good, then i was due to get my knee replaced and the gynecologist said get that sorted and come back but on the nhs , so that is what ive done , must admit i have put up with this for a long time ( just after my miscarriage it all started )which was 6 years ago, pain was not as bad as it is now though but because it was every month i would forget about it and take the pain killers but the last 3 times it has happened i have not dared to drive or go out so thats why i got revered to the consultant to see what it is causing the problem,

Hi Sophie,

I don't know if this is any help at all, and anyway it *is* best to wait for your DX but I have a close friend who has exactly the same symptoms as you and has had the same procedure you will have.. she was fainting and feeling so weak and ill each month.

Oh I forgot to say i have had the mask too and it is fine, I will be praying for you all the way..

Much love,

Amanda
